Leslie A. Feil, Ph.D. is a founding partner at Feil & Oppenheimer Psychological Services. She has been providing evaluation and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families in Barrington, Rhode Island for over 25 years. She has also consulted to school systems and community organizations. Dr. Feil is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, providing cross-disciplinary training to psychiatry residents.
 
Prior to working in Rhode Island Dr. Feil worked in a pediatric hospital setting, University of Illinois Medical Center, conducting psychological evaluations in a multi-disciplinary evaluation center. She has also worked in several community mental health centers in Rhode Island and Illinois.
 
Dr. Feil is Past-President of the Rhode Island Psychological Association and Chairperson of the RIPA Ethics Committee. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, as well as the Rhode Island Psychological Association.
 
With a background in developmental psychology, along with clinical psychology, Dr. Feil has expertise in evaluation and treatment of young children. She takes a developmental and family systems perspective on her work with children and adolescents. In her couples and adult practice she extends a contextual family perspective, and sometimes works with different sub-systems in conjunction with individual psychotherapy. Collateral work with parents is often conducted in order to help parents work together as a team with their children.
 
Dr. Feil applies cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), child developmental, family therapy, solution-focused, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills as appropriate for treatment. She has experience with the following diagnoses and problem areas: depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, autistic spectrum disorders (including Asperger's Disorder), learning disorders, other developmental disorders, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, psychological stress related to medical disorders, parental stress, and adjustment disorders.
 
Although Dr. Feil does not directly participate with health insurance plans, she is happy to help you seek reimbursement for your out-of-pocket expenses.
